Google is often touted as one of the best paying tech companies in the world, but how much money can you actually make there?

Unsurprisingly, a lot of engineers at Google make the big bucks, but many other roles will land you in the six figures. A hardware engineering manager in California was recently offered $242,000. A user experience researcher can earn north of $200,000.

While Google doesn't like to talk openly about salaries, all American companies must disclose how much they intend to pay foreign workers when applying for their visas. Insider has sifted through thousands of visa applications to discover how much Google values many of its roles.

This data is taken from the third quarter of 2021. There are other limits to bear in mind. It doesn't cover every position at the company, just those involving visas applications in the US. The numbers exclude stock grants that often increase total compensation considerably.

The location of these positions varies but the vast majority are in California. For individual salaries on our lists, we've included the specific location.

The employee's location is often a determining factor in how much they get paid – something that has become increasingly apparent as more employees look to move. Insider recently reported internal data that shows how much of a salary cut Googlers will suffer when they move away from Silicon Valley and NYC.

Also be sure to take a look through Insider's big tech salary database, featuring data on how much Apple, Tesla, Amazon, and other companies pay their employees.
